Diana Weynand
Adventurer in Charge
M.M. Ed., M.M.A.
During my career in the film and television industry, I wrote over 15 "how-to" books on equipment operations and video software such as Photoshop, Avid and Final Cut Pro. I designed and taught numerous courses on complex production equipment such as 4K cameras and graphic systems. For each book and course, I had to "crack the marble" of its purpose and break down complex operations into bite-sized morsels of easily digestible information.
Why? Because artists and operators depended on me to help them reach their goal—which often meant editing a film or producing a television program using new software or a piece of equipment they'd never seen before. A quick turnaround was always required so artists had to get up to speed immediately. They didn't need to know everything. Just enough to prepare them for the project.

During my career, I added another subject to my quiver—dynamic visualization. I've always been facsinated by the brain and understanding how we can work and learn more effectively. So I became a certified Silva Method instructor and taught meditation, which is an effective way of taking control of your mind, shifting focus and firing up your intent.
But before I entered the film and television business, I was completing a Masters degree in Music Education. In the privacy of a practice room with just me and Chopin, I learned to break down my rehearsal into "baby steps." In order to master the piece, I had to knock out the notes in a passage, one by one, and work them backward and forward until the notes were mine, until my fingers could find them each and every time. This is where I learned about the power of baby steps.
Coming full circle, I've incorporated the "Baby Steps" approach from my music background, with my "Cracking the Marble" technique I developed in my film and television training business. I mixed in some scientific research about the brain.
Together, my passions, interests and skills have provided the basis for the unique approach I use in my Mastermind Your Life training curriculum.
A Deeper Dive....
The first side of my life was filled with music—singing, playing, teaching, writing. This led to two degrees in Music Education and a love affair with songwriting. After a quick trip to Nashville with songs in hand, I decided a career in songwriting would be a challenging pursuit. So I went back to school and found a second passion that led to a Masters degree in Media Arts, which would allow me to pursue my combined interests of photography, recording, producing, directing and writing.
After a productive career in the film and television industry, I started to redirect the focus of my attention. I was being called by just about anything that felt like an adventure—music, sports, the environment, creative writing. I started a business, 2nd Side Adventures, LLC, which became the umbrella company for the endeavors I wanted to pursue in the "2nd side" of my life.
Helen Keller said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all."
I choose adventure.
